John Beilein, 54, who is coming off an NIT title earlier this week, has been
offered the Michigan job and the two sides are close to reaching an agreement,
according to sources close to the situation.
The holdup that may remain is a hefty $2.5 million buyout of his contract.
Beilein is 104-60 in his five seasons in Morgantown and has made an Elite
Eight and Sweet 16 appearance.
He would replace Tommy Amaker, who failed to take Michigan to the NCAA
tournament in his tenure in Ann Arbor.
Beilein made about $750,000 per season with West Virginia and would,
according to sources, make in excess of $1 million at Michigan.
