The North Carolina big man, who broke his nose in the regular-season finale, received a new faceguard on Wednesday and expected to give it a try during practice with the hopes of playing with it in Thursday's first-round game against Eastern Kentucky.
"It's a little more comfortable," Hansbrough said. "I can see out of it."
"I think I'll probably wear it tomorrow," he added Wednesday.
Hansbrough admitted he was frustrated during the ACC tournament when he struggled with his vision and his play. Hansbrough wasn't the same player offensively.
"This one's a lot tighter in my face and it doesn't cut my vision like the old one did," Hansbrough said.
